RESET! Beasts and Demons (2024)

RESET! Beasts and Demons is a hybrid choreographic creation, both scenic and digital. Using a motion capture device placed on the ADC stage, the movements of three dancers in action on the stage are digitalised, virtually augmented and projected in real time onto screens placed on the stage in the form of avatars, virtual allegories or abstract forms.

Avatars and fantastical landscapes are created digitally. The avatars, who are the digital multiples of the performers, are projected onto screens placed at the back of the stage and interact live in real time. Thanks to camera movements and live music, the audience is transported, immersed between the real and virtual worlds, invited to take part in the digital explorations of the performers on stage, accompanied by their living virtual doubles on the screens.

RESET! Beasts and Demons explores the connections between virtual and real bodies, as well as the interval and the void as a signifying space. Digital image processing offers the possibility of exploring multiple layers of reality, playing with real time, deconstruction, latency and deferral, and challenging our perception of reality.

The first performances of “RESET! Beasts and demons” will take place at the ADC Pavilion from 23 to 27 January 2024.
