József Trefeli – dancer

József Trefeli is Australian born of Hungarian origins. He graduated from the University of Melbourne VCA with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. József worked for three years in Australia before joining Alias Company in 1996 in Geneva. József has performed as dancer, singer and actor for many companies including Skree Wolf, Greffe, Théâtre l’Articule, Korpüs Animüs, and Théâtre Spirale. In 2005 József founded his own company in Geneva for which he has created more than 20 choreographic works. In 2015, in collaboration with Gabor Varga, he creates Creature which receives a Swiss Dance Award in the category Current Dance Works in 2017. József has also been invited as choreographer to create work for Ballet Junior Geneva, and the Opéra de Lausanne Switzerland, Provincial Dances Theatre Yekaterinburg Russia and the New Zealand Dance Company. In 2020, he joined Cie Gilles Jobin as an interpreter for the creation of the pieces La Comédie Virtuelle – live show (multiuser VR, 2020-21) and Cosmogony (live mocap, 2021).
