SUNSET MOTEL – VR piece (2026)

SUNSET MOTEL is an immersive project in virtual reality in collaboration with Swiss illustrator Thomas Ott and based on his graphic work.

Lost on Route 66 in the Californian desert, the SUNSET MOTEL is a mysterious place populated by marginal figures from the universe of Thomas Ott. The adventure begins when travellers, equipped with their VR headsets, arrive ‘as tourists’ in the SUNSET MOTEL lobby, playing the role of a new guest who encounters, from one space to the next, the ghostly presences that haunt this place of shadows.

Produced by Cie Gilles Jobin, Nadasdy Films in Geneva, along with Floréal in Paris, the artistic intent behind this work is to augment Thomas Ott’s drawings, offering viewers a deep dive into the artist’s highly unique universe.

Away from time and swept by the wind, SUNSET MOTEL reveals, to those who know how to look, the traces of forgotten guests. Would SUNSET MOTEL be an antechamber; the embodiment of the Limbus (Limbo), where the souls of the dead await before reaching their final destination: the light ?
